Counselling with Meg

At All About Autism, counselling is about meeting children where they are — with curiosity, compassion, and calm.

Led by Meg, our registered counsellor and experienced support assistant, this new offering provides gentle, neuro-affirming emotional and behavioural support for children aged 4–12. Sessions are held in our quiet therapy room, nestled in the garden at AAA’s Landsborough centre.

Meg supports children with a wide range of emotional, social, and behavioural needs through a strengths-based, trauma-informed lens. Areas of focus include:

  • Emotional regulation & behaviour – understanding and managing big feelings, learning coping tools, building frustration tolerance, and working through impulse control

  • Social skills & relationships – exploring friendships, navigating social cues, and resolving conflict

  • Confidence & self-esteem – building self-acceptance, using positive self-talk, and recognising personal strengths

  • School challenges – including transitions, school refusal, peer difficulties, advocacy, and navigating reasonable adjustments

  • Self-identity & neurodiversity – embracing autism, building self-understanding, and fostering self-advocacy

  • Trauma-informed care – gently unpacking past experiences in a safe, supportive environment

  • Anxiety & depression – managing anxious thoughts, building resilience, and supporting mental wellbeing
